1st Knife Ever with CPM Cru-Wear Blade: Spyderco Cru-Wear Mili

The 2013 Spyderco Military Cru-Wear Sprint Run knife is the first ever knife to feature Crucible's new red-hot CPM® CRU-WEAR® blade steel!  The "Cruwear Mili Sprintfeatures the conventional Military Model PlainEdge blade-profile with a flat-grind and an oversized round blade hole for quick deployment and even when wearing gloves.

The slim and ergonomic handle scales are peel ply gray G-10 with a nested Michael Walker LinerLock inlaid directly into the scale, which reinforces the lock strength without the adding the bulkiness and weight of full-length internal liners.  Spacers between the scales create a gap running the handle's full length exposing the inside workings for inspection and cleaning.
The handle is slightly flared at both the front and rear and machined onto the blade’s spine and choil are sections of jimping both of which restrain the knife from slipping forward or backward when forcefully cutting or sawing.  Spyderco's jimping is second to none when it comes to providing a comfortable, non-slip grip that gives the user confidence and control over the extremely sharp blade.
A contoured black metal pocket clip is mounted on the forward end for right-hand tip-down carry. Unfortunately the clip is not mountable in any other positions so it is intended primarily as a right hand knife.
The high performance CPM® CRU-WEAR® steel is an air-hardened powdered metallurgy tool steel. Crucible’s original smelted-produced CRU-WEAR® was created as an upgrade to A2 and D2 tool steels, both have earned longevity and respect in the cutlery business for their wear resistance and tough cutting performance.
The powder produced CPM® CRU-WEAR® blade steel offers even greater wear resistance and toughness than A2, D2 and M2. Through powdered steel technology, the steel is made easier to machine with improved resistance to chipping over the original smelted CRU-WEAR®. The powdered variety also attains a higher hardness factor through greater percentages of tungsten and molybdenum that result in a secondary hardening response.
The Cru-Wear Mili is a 1200 piece sprint run!  The rumor has it that Sal Glesser, because of the demand for this knife, upped the production from 1200 to possible 1500-1800 pieces.  This info is not confirmed but most likely true.  If you want one my advise is to act quickly and not let the grass grow under your feet as these will quickly be grabbed up by collectors and a few fortunate knife fans.
