Killer Knife of the Week: Spyderco Tenacious

One thing that makes an otherwise good knife into a "Killer Knife" is when you can buy it for a great price too! That's why this weeks "Killer Knife of the Week" is the Spyderco Tenacious folding knife.
The mid-sized Spyderco Tenacious C122GP has a satin finished blade and a black G-10 handle, milled with prolonged fatigue-free cutting in mind. Tucked inside are skeletonized steel liners increasing the handle's rigidity and strength without adding non-functioning weight or bulky thickness. The 8Cr13Mov stainless blade is leaf-shaped and ground flat from spine to cutting edge for outstanding cutting performance. The blade's shape coupled with an over sized Spyderco Round Hole and textured spine jimping allow you to open the blade and position your thumb on the spine in slip-proof confidence ready for work. A Walker Linerlock (with jimped liner) and a 4-way pocket clip lets you set your carry and draw preference: Tip-up/tip-down left-hand/right-hand. The handle on the Native5 is patterned with two separate finger choils. The Spyderco Native 5 has Bi-Directional Texturing molded into the FRN handle form varying levels of steps minimizing forward or backward sliding. Carved out of the locking lever is a David Boye Dent insuring the lock remains safely engaged even when gripping the handle forcefully. Spyderco Mehr K2 & Slysz Bowie Folders

The latest custom collaboration knives to come out of Spyderco's factory were introduced earlier this year at the Amsterdam Knife Show. The Farid Mehr K2 and the Marcin Slysz Bowie have been highly anticipated knives and now they are finally here and we are shipping them. Both of these fantastic knives are similar in appearance, but that's where the similarities end. In terms of similarities, both knives have full Titanium handles with integral framelocks (ala Chris Reeve). The anodizing has a slight texturing to give your hand better traction when gripping the smooth titanium handles and the finish is what we would describe as a titanium stonewash. Both knives have a clip point bowie style blade with a full flat grind and Spyderco's patented round hole for ambidextrous opening but that is where the similarities end.
The Spyderco K2 is a big hefty knife with a 4.5" blade and an overall length of 10.0" and with a removable pocket clip mounted on the pivot end for tip-down right hand side carry. The K2 knife is the first Collaboration between British custom knifemaker, Farid Mehr and Spyderco.
The Mehr K2's large broad bowie blade is the first blade ground from CPM 10V we have seen, CPM-10V is the first high-vanadium tool steel made using Crucible steel's Powder Metallurgy process. CPM 10V's toughness and machining characteristics are comparable to D2 and M2, but it's impressive 9.75% vanadium content gives it extreme wear resistance. In a knife blade, this translates to superior edge retention--a highly desirable quality for a hard-use folder. It sounds like CPM-S10V may well be the next super steel to hit the cutlery industry. The fully flat ground blade tapers of the entire width to a keen razor-sharp edge. The blade spine is radiused near the handle to provide a comfortable resting point for the thumb. There are no jimping (traction grooves) anywhere on the knife.
The Slysz Bowie is like a smaller brother to the Mehr K2 measuring in at a manageable 7.75 inches overall with a 3.375" blade length. The Slysz Bowie knife has a Bowie-style blade with a long, straight clip point with a radiused spine. The blade is precision ground from Carpenter CTS-XHP powder metallurgy stainless steel, a state-of-the-art alloy that combines the enviable performance characteristics of D2 with a higher degree of corrosion resistance. The blade has a full-flat grind for exceptional edge geometry and includes a section of jimping (grooves) on the thumb ramp for enhanced control during use. For easy one-handed opening, it also includes Spyderco's Trademark Round Hole.
Unlike most knives of its type that have flat scales, the scales of the Slysz Bowie are gently radiused across their entire width to offer much better ergonomics. They are also stonewashed to a dull battleship gray that enhances their grip texture and provides greater control during use.
The butt end of the handle features a unique G-10 spacer with two sections of strategically placed jimping to further enhance the knife's grip texture and aesthetic appeal. It's also home to a reversible deep-pocket wire clip that supports left or right-side tip-up carry and rides low in the pocket for maximum concealment.
The materials and build quality of both of these knives is absolutely superb. Check them out right here at www.OsoGrandeKnives.com.

Spyderco Dog Tag - Ultimate Concealment

When it comes to knives, size does matter, and in particular circumstances sometimes smaller knives are better. The Spyderco Dog Tag Folder, is based Serge Panchenko's popular custom Dog Tag knife, this small non-locking slip joint folding knife makes it possible to carry it just about everywhere.
The blade length is only 1.22" and it is non-locking so it is legal everywhere in the US and also in the UK. The model C188ALTIP Dog Tag knife ensures that you'll never without a sharp edge.
The handle is titanium and alluminum and it has the same size and looks of a military dog tag.
The handle houses an internal spring with a ball-bearing detent. It is mated to the chisel-ground high performance CPM S30V sheepsfoot blade by an elegant but simple pivot system and is highlighted by a color-anodized titanium backspacer which also serves a a pivot stop to avoid over rotation of the blade.
It's the perfect go-anywhere knife that's super easy to conceal.
